The long overdue post

Last weekend we watched New York I Love You and it was one of the weirdest movies I've ever watched. I watched it without looking at the synopsis and without any expectations except thinking it was a typical romcom. Little did I know it was "An anthology film joining several love stories set in one of the most loved cities of the world, New York". Like a storybook with short stories in it.

Anyhow it reminded me that i still have an entry long overdue. So here's the list of things we did in New York and Boston compiled by MHM and elaborated here by me. I think it would be a pretty good guide on things to do or experience if you're ever in the area.

In random order :-

  1. Breakfast in a diner (this was my first exposure to the portions of American meals. Their breakfast would be the size of my typical lunch in Malaysia! and it was a big mistake because it all totaled up to 30USD for breakfast! (including tips)??!
  2. New york cream cheese bagel (our typical and MHM's favourite breakfast while we were on the move)
  3. Brooklyn Bridge ( SATC. Miranda and Steve. Will you meet me halfway?)
  4. Empire State Building and Ellis Island (tempat wajib. Nuff said)
  5. Subway train ( slightly better than the tube in London. ada aircond . ngeee)
  6. 30 rock (refer to point 30)
  7. Magnolia cupcakes (this bakery was featured/mentioned in Sex and the City and Devil Wears Prada .The 2 cuppies we chose were so so. Cream tebal)
  8. Wicked on Broadway ( Make sure you pre-purchase your tickets before you go there. If you think the online prices are expensive, try buying them on the spot! if you're ever so lucky.. they're sold out most of the time)
  9. The famous Halal Cart on 53rd and 6th. ( tak tipu. line dia panjang)
  10. Making out on top of Empire state building during sunset.
  11. Ride a greyhound bus (ada wifi wa cakap luuu...)
  12. Bryant park
  13. 4th of july fireworks (we were lucky to be there on that date. U can see it from anywhere along Hudson river)
  14. Wall Street and financial district (our friend's apartment was on Wall Street itself)
  15. World trade centre
  16. Saks 5th avenue (Hof course tidak mampu shopping di sini.. but all the famous movies mention this shopping mall.. jadi wajib visit okeyy!)
  17. Victorias secret (Dont ask.)
  18. Woodbury Common Outlet Shopping ( Tickets are 47USD. Lagi mahal dari tickets to Boston tu! but oh so very worth it. You can get the bus at Port Authority,42nd Street & Eighth Avenue. For everything else there's always mustercard.)
  19. Central park ( I really wish we had the time to do a short run here)
  20. Applebees (American cuisine)
  21. Upper east and west side (China Town, Little Italy.. etc)
  22. Museum mile
  23. Chipotle taco and burrito (vegetarian option. Fulfilling and quite tasty)
  24. Popover cafe (oh so heavenly. Its located on Amsterdam Ave & 86th Street in NYC. Order its eggs benedict. its like Owh My God!)
  25. Grand central station.
  26. Being scolded on the street for not looking (You know how they drive on the right and the driver's on the left.. etc?)
  27. Lookout for the stupid signs on milk cartons (Allergen alert : Contains milk)
  28. Ali Baba- turkish food ( Between 3rd Ave & Tunnel Exit St. A quite fancy restaurant serving delicious turkish food. If you're going in a big group, make sure u make reservations. Portions are big as usual, so between the two of us we just ordered a squid salad and mixed grill. Which we even had leftovers)
  29. Pinkberry (something like Tuttyfrutty in Malaysia. A must try! )
  30. NBC Tour (NBC Studios tour at Rockefeller Centre. I was secretly hoping Liz Lemon was there. Or Kenny the page)
  31. Goodburger (Their Portebello Mushroom Sandwich was awesome! A huge mushroom cap as the meat in the middle)
BOSTON

  1. MIT - my sister in law graduated from here. Much respect!
  2. Harvard - (like if you're in the UK u visit Oxford and Cambridge, in Boston you visit here. Tempat orang orang genious/kaya?)
  3. Charles river
  4. Freedom trail tour. (Tour done by the ex-Harvard students. They were very entertaining. My only complaint would be the weather was too hot!!)
  5. Fenuil Hall & Quincy Market (refer to point 6)
  6. Clam chowder and lobster pie
  7. The duck tour ( The tickets are slightly pricey but it was a very interesting experience)
  8. Ride the T (just like the metro)
  9. Boston common and public gardens
  10. Cheers bar (Hang out and have a drink here)
  11. Cheesecake factory (Another must have! 4 OMG stars)
