Perang Antara Dunia
Warning : Possibility of spoilers ahead
Im sorry but I just felt the need to gloat for the fact that i watched War of The Worlds on the First Day it was released.. teee heee heee...
Having a handsome lead actor, who despite being called silly for wanting to marry a girl whose 16 years his junior ( but if u call Tom Cruise silly..what do u call all those Datuks and Tan Sri's who parade around with their young-enough-to-be-their-daughter girlfrends) was certainly a good selling point for me..
Especially since it was directored by Steven Spielberg and was an adaptation of one of HG Well's novels who is best remembered for his science fiction stories .. The Island of Dr Moreau (1869), The Invisible Man(1897) and 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea(1869)..which if im not mistaken have all been made into movies.
In the movie Tom Cruise makes a weak potrayal of a divorced middle class construction site worker.. with 2 kids who currently live with their mommy and rich step dad Tim..He's scruffy..slobbish and rough..and im not saying weak potrayal because of his acting but because i just dont think Tom Cruise is suitable for these kind of characters..
Dakota Fanning on the other hand is just superb..she fits the role and her character whose this easily stressed..needy.. but sensible little kid.. comes out believable and just makes u wanna hug and comfort her...
So yeah.. its a tale about earth being attacked by aliens and where else would the attack be... say it together now... in U.S.A... ..
the special effects id say are excellent.which is typical of all of spielbergs movies...and the aliens are called "tripods"....(just like the ones u use to hold a camera on)..my first thot when i saw them were.."wo-ow..never seen aliens looking like this before.." but maybe thats just because of my limited viewing of science fictions stories..(mind u.. i have yet to watch star wars) ..
There were a few excruciating.. seat gripping scenes... but overall the story line was slighlty erm.. dissapointing?...i guess the story book version would have be better although i must admit i havent read it yet..The conclusion or ending was something that could be argued about..since there were several different oppinions about it .. and although i didnt have any complaints but my company did commented " laaahh.. itu je?!"
To wrap it up.. id say.. its a movie you could watch by just buying one of those cetak rompak vcd or dvd versions but.. to really enjoy the sights and scenes.. the explosions.. the special effects.. it would still be best viewed at the cinemas.

Taeh Tawreyk...and Rowtie Chanaii
Okey.. this is not a "bashing my own countryman coz Im ofmix European heritage" entry.. coz first.. Im not mix nor i have any blood links with the west (my dad Ipoh mali.. n mom from Selama) and second this is a totally typical scenario in the streets of KL...
Why la kan.. whenever an accident happens.. even when the crash has been cleared of the road.. or it atually happened on the opposite side... It causes a massive traffic jam..as Jay Jay commented this morning.. " a bus caught fire on the Federal Highway .. and all the Kay-Poh-Chis in the world have to slow down and stare"... WHY?? okey.. i dont want to be insensitive and i do feel sorry for the victims.. I do hope they are all okey.. but WHY does everyone have to slow down there cars when they pass by..
Oh.ermm... lemme see. maybe all of them are bloggers.... so by slowing down to look at the carnage.. they can write in their blog " oooh.. I saw a bus burning today"..
oh oh.. or maybe they think that by slowing down and concentrating their minds on the fire they could stop it from spreading... just like superman lorh...
or.. maybe they want to look at the plate number.. "3D... 4D... Money! Money!"...
No.. I wasnt effected by the accident.. but it is such a typical scene in KL wait no..its a typical scene in anywhere in Malaysia.. I have yet to find the reason for this "busy body" attitude of Malaysians.....My journey which on average would take about 45 mins can sometimes go on for hours just because some car was parked by the road side with its hazard lights on..
Maybe the government should start another campaign (along side their "Budi Bahasa Amalan Kita".. Saying NO to cigarretes .. and the fight against money politics)..
Dont Stop and Stare.. the next one might be YOU!

Revelation
I read something about PMS recently.. yes Pre Menstrual Syndrome. come on ladies... everybody gets it...
Its normally caused by hormone imbalance (Nenn can correct me if im wrong)... and when it occurs everything just goes chaos..
To me .. its like having a case of OCD every month.. which does goes away eventually..
One thing Ive realised about PMS is that during this period.. new problems are'nt actually created.. but existing issues are just escalated to abnormal proporsions..
So something that might seem trivial becomes a big issue..
I guess theres nothing much that can be done.. but sometimes after all the fuzzyness caused by PMS clears up.. you kinda start seeing things in a better light.. and then u realise how daft u'd been...

Im not so much of a person who would skip work whenever i feel like it..btw im just bad at lying ..to bosses.. doctors.. So yesterday when i had a bad case of "pimple-itis" which left me looking like a rhinoceros or like the wicked with of the west to say the least..I actually went to the clinic to apply for medical leave. The doctor who was sympathetic with my condition (or just happy with the 38 bucks im paying him) gave me a whole day of rest..Waking up late that morning and the thought of being able to hang out with Lini the whole day kinda contributed to me applying for the leave..
And...despite not having the guts to face my coleagues looking like this.. it never stopped me to go driving around town helping Lini with her preparations for her eerm.. special day..so yesterday I was Lini's official driver of the day..
It was fun having her back... even for a short while..I miss having our stupid moments together..
Anyway.. some professor who resides in a land far far away full of sheep is celebrating her..18? 21? 25 isit? birthday today.. So Many happy returns to u baybee...Hope this year is better than ever...

The One With All The Movies..
I am ashamed to say this.. but I have yet to watch Star Wars :- Revenge of The Sith... and being a self-confessed geek.. im sure i have shamed the the League ofShadows of Nerds...In fact, until last Friday I have been missing out on all the latest movies.. Madagascar.. Mr N Mrs Smith..
So not wanting to be left out anymore...I booked 2 tickets to Batman Begins for Saturday....
Unfortunately.. maybe its just me.. or maybe im not so much of a comic fan.. but IMHO, batman begins was not a movie to be bragged about.. the death of Bruce's parents seemed not tragic enough ( even tho it followed the original comic ).. and his training with liam neeson .. seemed...unreal.. too comic like... and i did feel the starting was a bit dragging.. and slow..
but still it was different...
Different from Mr and Mrs Smith.. which i think depended too much on the popularity of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.. which by the way was.....*slurp slurp*..sexylicious..and that coming from a perfectly confident heterosexual girl..
The only movie which i surprisingly enjoyed this month was A lot Like Love..Im not much of a Kutcher fan and i only heard about the movie while i was queing up for tickets..its funny.. sweet.. ironic.. and cool.. a good watch.. even some guys said that..
Anyway my best friend is back from London for the month.. and im looking forward to see her..:D

Thanks to Mushem for something to fill my blog.. heh
1. How many books do you own?
A lot.I love books and everytime i go to a carboot sale, the only thing i look for are cheap books. Sometimes I dont even need to buy them.. I got lotsa book angels who are willing to lend me or give me books theyve read.. and im so thankful for that
But i dont think the books i have can fill up a cabinet or anything.. erm.. okeylah maybe a small cabinet.
2. What is the last book you bought?
The Family Way by Tony Parson
Got it on sale at The Curve.
3. What is the last book you read?
The last book i read was The Family Way but im in the middle of The Glass Palace by Amitav Ghosh. Its quite good but since its kinda thick its taking me a long time to read.. ( tapi nowadays i do take time in reading books .. i sometimes take an average of one month per book - depending on the number of pages)
4. Five Books which mean a lot to me.
erm.. alamak this is kinda hard.. Ive read a lot of books and some have made me think of certain issues.. but there are also books which didnt really have any impact on me but made a good read.. so heres five which fall under both categories
1) Da Vincci Code - Dan Brown
I loved this book so much i read all of his other books..too bad the others werent as good as this one.
2) I Wonder How She Does It - Allison Pearson
I never got around to finish this one coz asyik dok berebut dgn orang lain. In the end i decided to start reading The Glass Palace. Still, eventho i only read half of it.. i know its a good book to read.. ( was recommended by many)
3) The Namesake - Jhumpa Lauri
The authors name is already intriguing. This book made me think about certain issues like living abroad.. about remembering your roots and all that..Great read..
4)Lucky - Alice Sebold
I can actually feel the pain.. the suffering of the character in the book. Never have i read about a rape which was so descriptive yet didnt seem offensive to the reader yet it left a very lasting effect, feeling.
5) Falling leaves - Adeline Yen Mah
Cant remember the synopsis.. but i remembered that it was good.
5. Tag five others... and that five people are:
Eermm... anyone who reads this and has a blog and has the time to do it..heh..

T.G.I.F
sometimes i wake up in the morning and i get this brilliant idea for a blog entry (im not kidding.. im THAT nerdy ) ..
i actually write the words mentally as i get dress and do my makeup...
then as i enter the car.. put on Hitz.fm full blast
(i have had some weird looks from nearby cars..im sure theyre thinking.." ak eleh.. rempit giler pasang radio kuat kuat")...
the words start to slip away...
By the time i reach work.. kapoof* .. i dont even have the slightest idea of the topic ...
This message was bought to you by "I Have No Excuse For Not Updating" ..your daily dose of guilt..
